Where to dine in Lai Chi Kok this weekend

This weekend, D2 Place is offering an array of dining options in celebration of Mother's Day.

Man Hing, the Chinese cuisine destination at Greater China Club is offering a two-set family banquet for six. The first menu includes Indian lettuce with Sichuan spicy sauce, roasted pork belly, and bean curd sheet roll with mushrooms, plus mains of sautéed South Africa abalone with sliced pigeon, wok-fried prawns with salad dressing on eggplant, and braised E-fu noodles with mushroom and shrimp roe, to name a few.

The second menu features smoked scallops in Chinese rose wine and deep-fried morel mushroom in spicy salt, followed by double-boiled black chicken soup with blaze mushroom and snow lotus seed, along with mains that include stewed Yoshihama abalone (35 head) with mushroom, wok-fried prawns with oat coated with egg yolk, and steamed fresh spotted garoupa and deep-fried chicken coated with crispy rice and garlic.

Both menus come with a DIY Mother's Day special: sweetened bean curd pudding in wood cask, where kids can pour soya milk into gypsum powder and add osmanthus sugar to create the dessert. 

Meanwhile at Greater China Club's Cadenza, a five-course set menu of Maguro ceviche, with avocado, yuzu dressing and sorbet, pan-seared Hokkaido scallop and foie gras with spiced pumpkin puree, linguine in lobster ragout, datterino tomatoes, garlic, chili and basil, roasted French snapper fillet, baby spinach and caviar cream OR grilled USDA prime strip loin with gratinated potato and 3 Peppercorn Sauce, plus dessert.

Spanish restaurant Rustico is serving moms and families alike sharing menus inclusive of a tapas platter (Serrano ham, chorizo and Manchego cheese, and Spanish tomato bread loaf) and mains such as tradition paella with prawns, artichokes and cuttlefish, and handmade mushroom foie ravioli, in Spanish Manchego Cheese Sauce and Basil, continue the hearty feast, and the main course is a succulent Grilled Iberico Pork Combo of Presa, Pluma and Secreto cuts, Served with Crispy Potatoes and Homemade Pickles.

Finally, Japanese bistro Umai is offering two set menus for three to four, for sharing. The first features sea urchin, amaranth and crab meat, thick roll with assorted sashimi and steamed egg custard with sea urchin, chicken skewers, prawn tempura and grilled overnight dried squid, grilled Iberico pork loin, grilled ox tongue with salt and Hakata style stir-fried ramen noodle and a DIY dessert for the kids. The second menu features an additional sashimi platter and steamed egg custard with sea urchin, two extra varieties of chicken skewers, plus grilled US beef, eel and petit green pepper, along with Matsuba crab kamameshi with miso soup, seaweed and beef tongue shabu shabu.
