Burger-know-it-all: Sweet Baby Cheesus
This has got to be the best name for a Christmas burger ever. It’s definitely sweet and it’s definitely got some serious bounty of cheese, but is it sweet-baby-cheesus-worthy? Beef patty, caramelised onions, brie & stilton and sweet cranberry sauce… on paper, this combination is a recipe made in heaven. But it didn't meet our expectations, while everything was cooked incredibly and the combination was ingenious, it really it was down to the ratio. The ratio was a bit off, there was just too much cranberry sauce, and not in the tart or even sweet way we wanted it-- it was not flavoursome enough, but somehow it was also the only flavour we could taste. A little more blue cheese, a little less cranberry sauce, a little more caramelised onions would have balanced out the meatiness of the patty. The sharpness of the cheese would have complimented the cranberry sauce a little better and would have brought out the flavours of the meat patty a little more.
The beef patty in question was undeniably absolutely perfect, as beef & liberty always does. The fries, the service, spectacular as usual. Since it’s really down to ratio, anyone else who might try this might have a different, much better, experience, so do go try this Christmas burger at Beef & Liberty and report back to us!
