Happy Hour for the hungry
Date Published : 14 May 2018

Spoilt for choice, we're almost bored of the abundance of happy hour deals in Hong Kong. But when there’s food involved? We're there! For days when you need food just as much as you need a drink, check out our picks for next level tipples and nibbles.

MEATS
If buns and people-watching are your thing, happy hour here meats all the requirements. Come hungry as diners get a deluxe hot dog with their first drink, a pastrami sandwich with their second drink, and a porchetta sandwich with their third.
WOM recommends: How’s My Mando? (lavender-infused Cimarron Tequila, Fisselier Mandarin liqueur, lime juice, rose syrup & spiced salt rim) & Pastrami sandwich
The deal: Every alcoholic drink ordered during happy hour will come with a delicious bun
When: 5- 7pm daily
G/F, 28 – 30 Staunton Street, Soho;  2711 1812; piratameats.hk

VEA

Sunset on the terrace, delicious bites and creative cocktails - it doesn’t get much better than that. The sister lounge to Michelin-starred restaurant VEA offers some of the most decadent bar bites in town, think, parmesan fries with truffle mayo and salted caramel ice cream sandwiches. Paired with cocktails by award-winning mixologist Anthony Lai, happy hour at VEA lounge will keep you coming back for more.
WOM recommends: Peanut butter milkshake (white chocolate liqueur, Frangelico, half & half, a pinch of salt, served as “a glass of milk”) & Parmesan fries, truffle mayo
The deal: 20% off selected drinks & special priced bar bites
When: 5 - 8pm daily
29 & 30/F, 198 Wellington Street, Central; 2711 8539; vea.hk/lounge

Mercato

With ten different twists on the classic Italian aperitivo, Aperol Spritz, the popular brunch locale sure knows how to do happy hour. Do as the Italian do and enjoy an aperitivo (or two) on the terrace overlooking the hustle and bustle of LKF while sampling chef's selection of Italian bites.
WOM recommends: Try them all!
The deal: Buy-one-get-one free on drinks with complimentary Venetian Cicchetti platter
When: 5:30 - 7:30 pm daily
8/F California Tower, 32 d'Aguilar Street, Central; 3706 8567; mercato-international.com

CIAK - In the kitchen

Centrally located in the Landmark, CIAK - In the kitchen is a go-to for the after work crowd. Enjoy an aperitivo paired with complimentary snacks by Michelin-starred chef Umberto Bombana’s kitchen team.
WOM recommends: Not part of aperitivo hour, but donut resist the Bombolone (puns aside, these Italian filled doughnuts are the bomb.com)
The deal: Aperitivo hour with complimentary snacks
When: 5 - 8pm daily
Shop 327-333, 3/F Landmark Atrium, 15 Queen's Road Central, Central; 2522 8869; ciakconcept.com

MANA!

When charcuterie and cheese just doesn't cut it, head to MANA! Fast Slow Food and MANA! Cafe for hippy hour! MANA! is not a name we usually associate with happy hour, but the vegetarian/vegan hotspots’ deal is one not to be missed. Enjoy an array of organic wines and beers all the while filling up on MANA! Signature Za’atar crisps with hummus!
WOM recommends: Beers & ales from Black Isle organic brewery
The deal: Complimentary za’atar crisps & hummus with purchase of any two wines and beers
When: 3 - 8pm daily at MANA! Fast Slow Food & 3 - 6pm at MANA! Cafe (closed Tuesday)
MANA! Fast Slow Food, 92 Wellington Street, Central; 2851 1611; MANA! Cafe, 8 Tai On Terrace, Poho, Sheung Wan; 2347 8555; mana.hk
