5 Dreamy Afternoon Teas to try this Month
Date Published : 07 May 2018

Whether you're treating your mother or catching up with your gal pals, wow your taste buds and Instagram followers with these dreamy options.

Seasons

Those who dream of springtime in the French countryside should indulge in Seasons’ new “L'échappée Gourmande” afternoon tea. Featuring a three-tier stand brimming with springtime delicacies: white asparagus pannacotta & fresh cherry tomato coulis, Tasmanian salmon tartare with black Avruga pearls, and croque monsieur with prawns & spiced béchamel sauce, as well as a delectable pastry selection. A feast for all your senses, the team at Seasons has gone one step further to deliver a truly immersive experience. When the tea set is served, the chef will pour rose water into the plant on the top tier of the set, infusing the table and tea set in a cloud of beautiful rose-scented steam. Go on, close your eyes, breathe in the delicate aroma of roses and transport yourself to France for the afternoon.

Vive Cake Boutique
The whimsical cake boutique has partnered with Benefit Cosmetics to combine beauty and sweet treats. Featuring an array of delicacies such as coconut pannacotta with pineapple mousse & pink champagne jelly, key lime cream butter cake, hazelnut marshmallow macaron and more, the tea set for two will also include a complimentary 3DBrowtones from Benefit Cosmetics. Playing on the nostalgic memory of borrowing mum’s cosmetics as a child, diners can recreate their favourite makeup looks on cookies using edible powders, guaranteed to induce laughs and a trip down memory lane. Capture the sweet moment with a Polaroid photo care of Vive Cake Boutique.

Spoon & Bowl by Te Momento
Matcha-lovers listen up! Spoon & Bowl by Te Momento (Hong Kong’s first Chinese tea-themed Italian gelato brand) has collaborated with traditional tea company Maruyasu Tea from Japan to present an exquisite matcha-centric afternoon tea set. WOM-worthy matcha goodness includes Mount Fuji-shaped matcha cheesecake, honey-grilled matcha sponge cake, milk & matcha pudding with red beans and Japanese dango. Also on our radar are the deep-fried vegetarian chicken drumsticks and teriyaki & scrambled egg sandwich. Throughout May, the restaurant will be showing a pop-up art exhibition featuring hand-drawn pieces and sculptures by young artist, Miss FAT.

When:  Now until 30th June, 3-6pm daily
M/F, Prosperity Industrial Building, 89 Wai Yip Street, Kwun Tong; 3421 1944; facebook.com/spoonnbowl

Tea WG
The luxury tea salon presents an afternoon tea set inspired by genmaicha, the Japanese blend of green tea and roasted brown rice. A trio of open sandwiches steals the show: smoked swordfish fillet with red radish, onion salsa & genmaicha infused creme fraiche; cured hamachi fillet with mashed ginger & spring onion topped with genmaicha tuile; and baked cod fillet marinated with Japanese soya with caramelized shallot & Genmaicha furikake. Tea-infused macarons and freshly baked scones round out the set.

When: Now until 13th May, 3-6pm daily
Various locations incl. Shop 1022, Podium Level One, IFC Mall, 1 Harbour View Street, Central; 2796 2828; teawg.com

Dr Fern's Gin Parlour
Much to the benefit of our well-being, Dr Fern’s Gin Parlour has revamped their afternoon tea, or as they call it “After-Tea”. Inspired by the Swedish tradition of Fika, a time set aside to have tea or coffee accompanied by pastries in a highly social setting, After-Tea celebrates the idea of “pause and reset” - a prescription we’d gladly take. Patients are to expect Nordic cornettes and bon bons paired with seasonal gin & tonics incorporating the fresh botanicals of summer. The new set launches on Mother’s Day alongside a live band performance, and each mum will receive a free upgrade to a Mother’s Day gin & tonic to commemorate the occasion.

When: Launching 13th May, available in three sessions: 12:15pm-13:45pm, 14:00pm-15:30pm, & 15:45pm-17:15pm
Shop B31A, First Basement Floor, Landmark Atrium, 15 Queen’s Road Central, Central; 2111 9449; drfernshk.com
