WOM Community: HK's best hangouts

We asked our readers for their tips on HK's best hangouts...

Hong Kong is packed with great bars that are perfect for special occasions. But we wanted to know where our readers go for a regular catch-up with friends, where the staff know you by name and the atmosphere is homely.

WOM stands for Word of Mouth: here are three of the best according to WOM readers...

Motu Kiwi

Our readers praised the great welcome at Motu Kiwi, WOM dropped in to see for ourselves, and we’re glad we did. WOM readers also appreciate Motu Kiwi’s regularly changing food menu, great beer selection and that they show rugby on the TV. There’s a quiz night too. The window seats of this husband and wife-run joint are also a great people-watching spot.

41-43 Graham Street, Central

99 Bottles

The rotating selection of genuinely good beers are the star here. It’s not a cosy place by any means - you’ll likely find yourself sitting on the steps outside. But the vibe is great, helped by the fact that 99 Bottle is possibly the cheapest place to drink in Central (other than 7-Eleven).

59a Peel Street, Central

Posto Pubblico

Our readers showed a lot of love for Posto Pubblico, praising the relaxed and welcoming environment, not to mention the shots handed out to regulars. Not only is the drink selection top-notch, there’s an excellent food menu too. One reader singled out Posto Pubblico for extra praise because “They have metal straws, serve local organic produce, and compost their food waste.” Top marks for that!

28 Elgin St, Central
