Now open: Black Sheep Restaurants' teppanyaki affair Crown Super Deluxe

Another day, another opening: Adding to the plethora of eats and sips on Wyndham Street is Black Sheep Restaurants’ latest concept - Crown Super Deluxe, a lavish teppanyaki affair. A marriage between two worlds, this 1960s Tokyo-inspired venue embodies the luxury and opulence of Kobe teppanyaki but with restaurateur Rocky Aoki’s flair.

Giving off the sense of the golden 60s in the land of the rising sun, the restaurant features an octagonal teppan that serves 20, plus two teppans on the side that each serve five adorned with golden onyx counters, mustard velvet armchairs and brushed-gold chandeliers - designed by Sean Dix.

Helmed by teppanyaki experts Niigata-native and chef Toru Takano alongside his wife chef Ami Hamasaki, diners are treated with quality grain-fed steaks from USDA prime, Australian Wagyu, and a rotating selection of marbled cuts from small Japanese farms. A la carte options are available but for the full experience, sample The Deluxe meal (HK$1188 per person) and you could just relax and let your hair down (not literally, of course!). Highlights include Toyosu Market Sashimi, Tokushima Fruit Tomato with Japanese Sea Salt, and Teppan Spiny Lobster in Coral Butter.
