Looking for some sweet relief in this sweltering hot Hong Kong weather? This week we looked for the sweetest, the creamiest, the quirkiest and the most scrumptious of frost bites around Hong Kong. You know what they say about durian, you either hate it or you’re addicted. These are DURIAN flavoured ice cream served at Dessert Playground. You’ll notice in the video that George is holding one of these in each hand. Actually, they’re two different flavours- the D24 durian and the Musang King ice lolly. The Musang King being the more luxurious one out of the two. The D24 is the creamier sort, but prepare yourself, they're absolute flavour bombs: everything you eat for the rest of the day is going to be gloriously durian-y. What is it about sea salt that makes all the sweet things it touches, even sweeter? Sea salt ice cream at Inakaya plays with that concept, and while it does have that tinge of a salty aftertaste, the sweetness surprisingly comes through. This one’s an ice cream take to the traditional beancurd sweet soup. Perfect for the summertime, it’s made with beancurd, egg and ginko and it's much sweeter than it sounds. The fun is in choosing out of the dozens of flavours available. We named this ice cream monster as “George’s Choices” because that’s exactly what it is. George picked out all his favourite flavours and added them on top of each other. These were his choices: raspberry sorbet, deep purple chip, chocolate chip cookie dough, grasshopper, space cake.
