Best brunch eats in Sai Ying Pun

For those unaware, Sai Ying Pun is a mecca for brunch lovers in Hong Kong. The whole area from Second street, Third street to High street (as well as the other little streets) are brimmed with brunch, brunch and brunch during the weekends. From a traditional English to a roti breakfast burrito, there are a plethora of choices of lazy late-morning eats in Sai Ying Pun.

There’s a new comfort food joint in town. Focusing on friendly service, quality portions and affordable prices, Second Street Comfort Food & Bar newly opened on Second street (of course) this summer. Already popular with the locals, the restaurant is serving up some brunch with amazing value. WOM recommends: Bomb the bay omelette
Blacksalt serves up classic favourites with an Indian twist. The BS fry up is a unique spiced-up version of the classic English fry-up, with 2 runny yolk fried eggs, tandoori pork sausages, baked kidney beans with a variety of spices, thick cuts of bacon and okra fries. The “bomb the bay omelette” is a gigantic tortilla (Spanish omelette) stuffed with sweet potatoes and topped with mandras candied bacon (thick cuts of bacon lathered with a sweetly spiced sauce) green mango pickle and a sunny side quail egg. Stack, as you might have guessed from the name, serves some excellent sweet and savoury pancakes. During the weekend their weekend brunch menu includes their signature Running Honey Pancake that comes with honey, honeycomb, cream cheese and caramel dressing. In true Indonesian fashion, the brunch in KAUM comes with a free flow of a variety of smallplates & rice, one choice of large plate, one dessert and an option for free flow drinks. Kaum’s version of the gado gado comes with garden veggies tossed in peanut dressing and topped with eggs, tempeh and garlic crackers. Other small plates including a curry with tiger prawn tails, and a tuna marinated in coconut oil are some of the options available for free flow.
