The future is here. Joining with Japanese I.T firm, NEC, award-winning brewery, Coedo, has launched a line of craft beer that uses artificial intelligence or AI to concoct up. The “Life-brewing beer” captures the trends of people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s for the purpose of promoting intergenerational communication.

How does it work? The AI analyses images from fashion magazines by well-renowned publishing company, Shogakukan to determine which colours were considered ‘trendy’ in each decade. The trends are also linked to aroma and taste descriptions including “fruity” and “dryness”.

In 2017, a similar campaign with coffee beans was launched as well as mood-based chocolate in 2018. However, this is the first time AI has been used for beverage purposes though.

The newest range of canned brews comes in a pack of four (US$13) representing each generation. Would you try the craft beers?
