Wagyumafia Hong Kong officially opens to all

Wagyumafia Hong Kong is now open to non-members. That being said it’s still pretty hard to get a seat, and according to whether you’re a member or not, the cut that you get can be quite different.

For those unfamiliar, Wagyumafia is known for its world-famous Wagyu chateaubriand cutlet sandwich, otherwise known as “The most expensive sandwich in the world”. The “sando” uses the highly prized Kobe tenderloin (and then only the best of that), which is then battered, deep-fried into a cutlet and sandwiched between toasted white bread smeared with a soy and vinegar sauce.

The restaurant says the reason behind membership is the small supply available; call me cynical but sounds like an excellent marketing gimmick and a waste of Kobe! There is already a waiting list for membership, but from this month onwards non-members in Hong Kong can book to try what is actually a decadent, but over-priced steak sandwich. Let us know if you think it is worth it. Wagyumafia Hong Kong, 32 Oi Kwan Rd, Shop 1B G/F, Wan Chai, 2812 0500,
